Terms of Service
The terms on which we provide this website and our subscriptions.
Last updated: August 2026
These terms govern your use of Maritime Journal and any subscription you take out with us. By using the site you accept them.
[Publisher's registered company name, registered address, company number and VAT number to be inserted here.]
Accounts
You may register a free account. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else is using it.
Accounts are personal to you. Sharing credentials so that several people can use one subscription is not permitted; team access is available separately.
Subscriptions, payment and renewal
Subscription prices and what each plan includes are shown on our subscribe page. Payment is taken by Stripe.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each term unless cancelled beforehand. You can cancel at any time from the Subscription section of your account, which takes you to our payment provider's billing portal. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues until the end of the period you have paid for.
[Set out the refund position and the statutory right to cancel: consumers in the UK ordinarily have 14 days to cancel a distance contract, and digital content supplied immediately requires an express request and an acknowledgement that the right to cancel is lost. Confirm how that is handled at checkout.]
[State whether prices include VAT, and how price changes at renewal are notified.]
Content and intellectual property
Everything published on this site — articles, images, data and the archive — belongs to us or to our licensors and is protected by copyright.
You may read, print and share individual articles for your own use. You may not republish, redistribute, sell or systematically copy our content, or use it to train machine learning models, without our written permission.
The Buyers Guide
Companies may submit a listing to the Buyers Guide. If you submit one:
- You confirm you are authorised to act for that company and that the information you provide is accurate.
- You grant us permission to publish the material you supply on this site and in related promotion.
- We review submissions before publishing and may decline, edit or remove a listing at our discretion.
Listings are supplied by the companies themselves. We do not verify their claims, and a listing is not an endorsement.
Acceptable use
Do not use the site to send unlawful, misleading, offensive or infringing material, to attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system, or to place an unreasonable load on our infrastructure. We may suspend or close an account that does.
Availability and liability
We work to keep the site available but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access, and we may change or withdraw features.
Our content is published in good faith as journalism and general information. It is not professional, technical, legal or financial advice, and you should not rely on it as such.
[Insert the liability provisions. These must not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded, and must be reasonable under the Unfair Contract Terms Act and fair under the Consumer Rights Act.]
Changes
We may amend these terms. Material changes affecting subscribers will be notified by email or on the site before they take effect.
Governing law
[Specify governing law and jurisdiction — ordinarily the law of England and Wales — and note that consumers keep the protection of the mandatory rules of their own country of residence.]
